Hello contributors and readers,
Along with the other changes OUT/CAST is making (see our last blog post), we are moving forward with a new platform! We are opening up the blog for our contributors and readers! The blog’s content will be run by our new Associate Editor Miguel Soto, who will be accepting blog submissions via firstname.lastname@example.org. Any information regarding the blog should be directed to the appropriate email.
We are now open for submissions, but first a few guidelines:
OUT/CAST’s blog will run on monthly themes, which are up to your interpretation. Our vision for the blog remains the same as the vision for the journal: we love to see work by writers who are queer and have Midwestern connections, but we will also accept work from anyone interested in our journal and vision.
The blog’s content will be uploaded bi-monthly, on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.
You can submit up to three pieces of under 1,000 words each for consideration. Your submission’s subject line should include the genre and month (e.g. “Blog Submission January”). Your submission should be attached in a single .doc or PDF file. With your submission, please send a brief cover letter about yourself and your work, as well as a 50-word (or less) third-person bio.
This post will be updated to reflect the current month’s theme for which we are accepting work.
February 2019 Theme:
In accordance with Black History Month, OUT/CAST wishes to highlight the voices of Queer Black figures. Share with us your thoughts on Queer Black figures who deserve more attention than they receive. You can send your submission or pitch to Associate Editor Miguel Soto at the above address.
Themes are up for interpretation, as we love to read work that is passionate, thoughtful, and outside our expectations.
